important 2024 election dates for eagle county

first are the primary elections

Colorado voters will be selecting Presidential, statewide, and local candidates to appear on the November General Election ballot, in two separate primaries:

A Presidential Primary Election will be held on Tuesday, March 5th.

A statewide and local Primary Election will be held on Tuesday, June 25th.

 

How do statewide and local candidates get on the Primary ballot? Major parties like the Democratic and Republican parties may choose their candidates at their party’s caucus and/or candidates may decide to petition onto the ballot by gathering enough signatures of eligible voters. 

FEBRUARY
Note: Colorado voters who are affiliated with a major party, Republican or Democratic, by February 12 will receive a Presidential Primary ballot only from the party with which they are affiliated. All Unaffiliated voters will receive a ballot for each party but they can only vote on one ballot for it to be counted.

 

Monday, February 12 – First day that ballots for the March 5th Presidential Primary Election may be mailed to voters. 

Monday, February 12 – Last day for voters who are affiliated with a political party to change or withdraw their affiliation in order to vote in a different party’s Presidential Primary Election.

Friday, February 16 – Last day to affiliate with the Democratic Party and update a voter registration address in order to vote in the Democratic Party’s precinct caucus. 16- and 17- year old pre-registered Democrats are eligible to participate. 

MARCH

Tuesday, March 5 – Presidential Primary Election All ballots must be received by the county clerk by 7:00 pm.

Friday, March 7 – Eagle County Republican Caucus and Assembly  4:30 pm - 9:00 pm, Eagle County Building. For more information, visit: eaglegop.com/events
 

Saturday, March 9 – Eagle County Democratic Party Virtual Caucus and Assembly  3:00 pm - 5:30 pm on Zoom. Preregistration is required. For more information, visit: eagledems.org

JUNE

Note: Colorado voters who are affiliated with a major party, Republican or Democratic, by June 3 will receive a ballot only from the party with which they are affiliated. All Unaffiliated voters will receive a ballot for each party but they can only vote on one ballot for it to be counted.

Monday, June 3 – First day that mail ballots for the June 25th Primary Election may be mailed to voters.

 

Monday, June 3 – Last day for voters who are affiliated with a political party to change or withdraw their affiliation in order to vote in a different party’s primary election for the June 25th Primary Election. 

Tuesday, June 25 – Primary Election Vote Centers open 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. All ballots must be received by the county clerk by 7:00 pm.

OCTOBER

Monday, October 14  – First day that mail ballots for the 2024 General Election may be mailed to voters.

 

Monday, October 21 – Vote Centers open for the November 5 General Election.

 

NOVEMBER

Tuesday, November 5 – General Election Day. Vote Centers open 7:00 am - 7:00 pm. In-person same-day voter registration available. Ballots due by 7:00 pm, no exceptions.
